Canine Health

If you’re a dog lover, you’ll easily relate to our doctors and staff because we, at Park Place Veterinary Hospital, all love dogs too!

We focus on individualized care for each of our patients because we acknowledge that each one has unique needs.

Park Place Veterinary Hospital is your partner in pet health for the lifetime of your pet. Many of our patients started coming to PPVH as puppies for their initial wellness check-up, vaccinations series and to start on a parasite control and prevention plan. Each year they are seen by one of our caring veterinarians during an annual wellness exam where they are examined from head to tail.

Our annual exams help us work with you to manage your pet’s health before conditions become severe. It is our recommendation that they are tested annually for common parasites. It is less expensive to prevent illness than to have to treat it later on.

Services we offer to help your dog maintain optimal health:

Puppy’s First Visit

Your puppy’s first visit with a veterinarian is usually around 8 weeks of age (followed by booster shots at 12 weeks and 16 weeks of age.) Typically during your first appointment, your puppy is healthy and doing what puppies do best.

We will examine your puppy from head to tail. Any tests you elect to have performed at the time of the exam will begin to establish your puppy’s health baseline report from which we can gauge any signs of changes in his/her health.

Please come to your puppy’s first visit with any and all questions you may have! These first visits are equally valuable for our veterinary team because the information shared will help us make a plan to keep your new puppy happy and healthy! These visits will also be an excellent time to discuss recommended vaccines and parasite testing, treatments, and prevention.

At your puppy’s initial appointment here at Park Place Veterinary Hospital, you will receive a FREE Puppy Pack containing important information, handouts, and a free dose of a recommended heartworm prevention product and also of a flea/tick prevention product.
